    Why drop punt?

It’s the first move I learned.

I grew up in Australia playing Aussie Rules Football. (It’s like a mix of rugby, American football, and basketball.) The first skill I can remember learning as a young kid is the drop punt. I used to practice it all the time. In the sporting world, Australians are known for it. It’s a more accurate and efficient kick. And it’s a skill that’s not developed overnight. I want to help educators learn AI in the same way, so they can be precise, aware, and skilled in how to use generative AI over time in classrooms and across systems. I want them to then feel confident to really “kick goals” with AI.

    Why me?

I’m living and leading this work.

I’m a real educator who has worked in schools in the South Bronx, Northern California, and Madison, WI. I’ve also led international IT projects based in London and NYC and know what it takes to support a team in an IT endeavor. As an early adopter of generative AI in education, I’m leading the way AND learning in context. I’m spearheading the adoption of AI policies and practices at my school program, facilitating PD, presenting on my work nationally, and coaching individuals. I’ve taught special education, robotics, and adventure classes for students K-12. I launched a high school program as the founding adventure coordinator and helped students learn how to navigate any physical terrain (from our local trails to the Grand Canyon). I’m now supporting adult learners to do the same with AI. And I keep my skills honed as a community member at sideby.

Conference Presentations

  • Attendees of my sessions at the AI Innovation Summit engaged with use cases around generative AI in Special Education and how this can apply to teachers, students, and administrators. We played in my Special Education Assistant gpt, practiced real time differentiation, and had small group discussions about the just right next steps for engaging with teachers around generative AI use at their school sites.

  • Attendees practiced building their own gpts after they learned how I developed the Special Education Assistant gpt for our school. I demonstrated how I trained the gpt specifically in state and federal Special Education laws, applicable information from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, curriculum standards, and specific elements of our school program around our mission, vision, and approach to education overall.

Professional Learning

  • I earned the GenAI Literacy Trainer Essentials Micro-Credential with AI for Education in their Train the Trainer Institute in June 2025. The GenAI Literacy Trainer Essentials micro-credential equips individual tech coaches, instructional leaders, and other interested educators with the knowledge, strategies, and resources to effectively train and support educators in foundational Generative AI Literacy.

  • On sideby, I connect with other educators to talk about how they’re applying and learning with generative AI at their schools around the country. I’m in responsive learning pathways to build my AI fluency through guided conversations.

  • Focused on empowering every learner, I’m diving deeper into AI-powered personalization with colleague.ai.

  • I’m enrolled in the Playlab’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) of educators using AI to create meaningful tools for themselves and others. I’m working toward my micro-credential in AI Tool Design and Prompt Engineering for Educators from Relay Graduate School of Education.

  • Through ASU, I’m currently enrolled in Generative AI: A Powerful New Learning Partner to earn my microcredential in this area.
